The Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG) successfully conducted a five-day workshop on “Library Automation & Digitization” from 17th to 21st September 2024 at its Pragna Puram campus in Ahmedabad. The workshop aimed to provide library professionals with a deeper understanding of modern library technologies, automation tools, and digitization processes, enabling them to enhance their institutions’ operational efficiency and user experience.

The workshop featured insightful sessions covering various essential topics such as Integrated Library Management Systems (ILMS), digital libraries, open-source software for library automation, digitization standards, metadata management, AI, cloud computing, and more. These topics were delivered by distinguished resource persons, including Dr. Chintan Pandya (MICA), Dr. Yogesh Parekh (Gujarat University), and Dr. Avik Roy (Derozio Memorial College), among others.

Key Highlights:

  • The practical sessions provided participants with hands-on experience in digitizing collections and managing e-resources.
  • Discussions on AI, cloud computing, and legal issues, particularly around Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), were highly appreciated.

Coordinator’s Role: The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Sandip Patel, Librarian at Gujarat Arts and Science College, Ahmedabad, who played a crucial role in organizing the event. His leadership and coordination efforts ensured smooth execution of the workshop, making it a productive learning experience for all 130 attendees.
